But you know what is glamorous? You getting your check at the end of the sale. :) 

Selling your home the right way is absolutely worth it when you get a nice chunk of change at the end. After all, you purchased your home to build equity, and selling at the right time is when you get to take advantage of that equity to get you into a home that works better for you or your family.

I speak from both professional and personal experience. When I sold our personal home a couple years ago, I’ll be honest that I didn’t anticipate the long nights staying up packing and organizing and staging and cleaning. I didn’t realize how much of a struggle it was to keep the house constantly clean and get two kids and a dog out of the house for showings. These were things I knew were important professionally, but it was much harder to do in practice. 

(Side note: if you’d rather be out of the house before you list, I have a strategy for that as well). 

But when we used all the proceeds from our sale to pay for our next home down payment of 20%, and we saw that we had profited about $90,000 over the past four years of owning the home, it was all worth it.
